Eco-Friendly Climate Control for Seasonal Events | Redge ECOMFORT R32

Project Overview

In Yebles, France, Redge delivered a high-efficiency heat pump solution tailored for a professional rental fleet serving the event sector. The system had to support a wide variety of temporary installations, including outdoor ice rinks in winter, concert venues, and climate-controlled hospitality tents in warmer months.

To meet these diverse demands, the client deployed five units of the ECOMFORT MC R32, a compact, indoor reversible heat pump designed for hydronic networks. These machines offered both cold water for comfort cooling and low-temperature operation required for seasonal ice applications, all within a mobile, easy-to-integrate format.

Challenges

The system had to perform in sub-zero water conditions (down to -12 °C) for ice rink use, while still delivering standard 7/12 °C comfort cooling to mobile air-handling units. The rental fleet operator also prioritized footprint compactness, fast deployment, and minimal maintenance requirements. Additionally, in a market where environmental performance is increasingly scrutinized, using a low-GWP refrigerant was key to gaining competitive advantage.

Redge Solution

The ECOMFORT MC R32 units were selected for their flexible performance range, compact size, and factory-integrated hydraulic module. Each system included:

  • Double high-prevalence pumps, ideal for varying hydraulic layouts

  • Scroll compressors and EC fans for low-noise, energy-efficient operation

  • Remote monitoring capability via eCLIMATIC controls for fast setup and diagnostics

  • Preconfigured anti-freeze protection for cold-season use

Designed to operate on R32 refrigerant, the ECOMFORT heat pump offered strong performance with a reduced environmental footprint helping the client offer an eco-friendly rental option.

Typical applications supported by these units include:

  • Winter ice rinks, where negative water temperatures are critical

  • Outdoor events, where quiet comfort cooling is required

  • Temporary installations with hydronic networks that need mobile-ready heat sources

Key Outcomes

The event operator now benefits from a highly adaptable and transportable heat pump platform capable of delivering reliable thermal control in a broad range of seasonal and structural setups. With a low-GWP refrigerant, built-in hydraulic module, and smart controls, the ECOMFORT units offer both short-term operational reliability and long-term sustainability.
