Project Overview

Located in Portimão, in Portugal's Algarve region, the Continente supermarket is a busy retail environment serving customers throughout the year. Supermarkets require dependable indoor climate control to provide a comfortable shopping experience while supporting suitable conditions for employees and maintaining a pleasant indoor environment across large retail areas.

Retail food stores present specific HVAC challenges. Large open-plan sales floors, changing occupancy levels and extended opening hours place continuous demands on heating, cooling and ventilation systems. In addition to temperature control, effective air renewal is essential to maintain indoor air quality throughout the occupied spaces.

The project required a rooftop HVAC solution capable of delivering both climate control and fresh air ventilation while integrating efficiently with the building's technical infrastructure. The equipment also needed to suit the available plant area and connect to the building's air distribution system through a practical installation arrangement.

Redge Solution

To meet the building's climate control requirements, four Redge EVIO rooftop units were supplied for the project.

1. Three Redge EVIO Ev270AH130DPF1 Rooftop Units

Three EVIO Ev270AH130DPF1 rooftop units provide heating, cooling and air renewal for the supermarket. Together, they contribute to maintaining indoor comfort throughout the retail areas while supplying conditioned and fresh air to the building.

2. One Redge EVIO Ev185AH075DPF1 Rooftop Unit

An additional EVIO Ev185AH075DPF1 rooftop unit complements the installation, supporting the overall HVAC requirements of the supermarket as part of the complete rooftop system.

All four units are installed in a dedicated technical area on a steel support structure and feature vertical duct connections, allowing integration with the building's ductwork. This configuration enables the distribution of conditioned air and outdoor air throughout the supermarket while making effective use of the available installation space.

By combining heating, cooling and ventilation within rooftop units, the project delivers a complete HVAC solution tailored to the operational requirements of a modern retail food environment.
