Thermodynamic Heat Recovery Rooftops Power Climate Control at Italian Sports Center

Project Overview

A newly constructed sports and fitness complex in Italy required a high-performance HVAC solution to maintain thermal comfort across active-use spaces. Designed to support intense occupant loads and fluctuating indoor conditions, the system had to ensure efficient air management without compromising reliability or delivery deadlines.

Redge delivered two 130 kW BALTIC rooftop units equipped with active thermodynamic heat recovery, offering a compact yet powerful solution tailored to the needs of modern recreational environments.

Challenges

Sports centers pose unique climate control demands due to:

  • Rapidly shifting thermal loads based on occupancy and activity

  • The need for fresh air ventilation without excessive energy loss

  • Installation limitations related to roof space and architecture

  • Tight project timelines requiring fast system delivery and commissioning

The design team required rooftop units capable of high-capacity airflow, advanced heat recovery, and plug-and-play installation for seamless integration.

Redge Solution

Redge supplied two BALTIC rooftop systems, each incorporating a dedicated thermodynamic heat recovery circuit with an independent compressor. This setup boosts energy efficiency by capturing and reusing waste heat—improving indoor comfort while reducing demand on the primary heating and cooling circuits.

Key technical advantages included:

  • Compact design with reduced footprint for architectural compliance

  • Rapid installation and pre-engineered controls for minimal commissioning time

  • Independent thermodynamic recovery for stable supply air temperature

  • Compatibility with full fresh air management strategies

The systems were installed and brought online in close collaboration with the site's mechanical contractor and Redge's service team. Their performance enabled continuous thermal stability during peak usage while supporting the project’s environmental and operational goals.
