Project Overview

Herdade do Esporão is a producer of wine and olive oil located in Reguengos de Monsaraz, in Portugal's Alentejo region. The facility carries out multiple production processes that depend on maintaining controlled temperatures at different stages of manufacture, particularly during seasonal periods such as the grape harvest and olive processing campaign.

Unlike conventional commercial buildings, food and beverage production facilities often require HVAC systems that support both people and processes. Temperature control can influence production conditions at key stages, while ventilation and comfort systems help maintain suitable environments within occupied production and storage areas.

For this project, the requirement was not for a permanent installation but for a temporary rental solution capable of supporting several production activities simultaneously. The equipment needed to serve different applications across the site, providing cooling where required for production processes while maintaining appropriate environmental conditions in wine storage areas.

Redge Solution

Redge supplied a rental HVAC package comprising two chillers and one EVIO rooftop unit, with each piece of equipment dedicated to a specific stage of production.

1. Redge GAC300DP2M Chiller

The GAC300DP2M chiller was deployed during the grape harvest to support the storage of harvested grapes. Its role was to provide cooling for the control of fermentation parameters before the winemaking process progressed to the next stage.

By supplying temporary cooling capacity during the harvest period, the rental solution enabled process cooling to be provided when seasonal demand was at its highest.

2. Redge GAH130DP2M / GAH160DP2M Chiller

The second rented chiller (model reference to be confirmed) was assigned to the olive mill, where it supports temperature control during olive oil production.

According to the project information, the unit is used to assist with controlling the acidity of the olive oil by supporting the temperature conditions required during processing.

3. Redge EVIO Ev270AH105DPF1 Rooftop Unit

The EVIO Ev270AH105DPF1 rooftop unit provides temperature control within the wine ageing area, specifically the barrel room.

Maintaining suitable environmental conditions during the ageing process is an important aspect of cellar operation. The rooftop unit supports climate control within this area while complementing the process cooling provided by the rented chillers elsewhere on the site.
